We are experiencing problems with some of our transportation during morning pick up and afternoon drop off. At this time, we have been exercising all available means and methods of bringing resolution to the problem of some buses being late picking up students in the morning and dropping students off in the afternoon. Our bus company as well as other bus companies statewide are facing a bus driver shortage; however, we will continue dedicate all efforts to resolve this problem as soon as possible.
We have a had several discussions with our bus company, we are reviewing our bus routes for maximum efficiency, as well as other means permitted by code and statute to try and find a solution. The Board of Education, Superintendent, and Business Administrator will also be meeting with the bus company on Thursday, 9/24/2015, prior to the Board Meeting.
At this time we believe we have resolved the problem of bus 9 being late with morning pick-up. However, bus 10 has a route conflict that has been causing the delay in the picking up the students in the morning. Therefore, we are using different routing software to try and eliminate this route conflict and late pick up as soon as possible.
A voice notification was sent out earlier today (9/21/2015) to the parents of the students that ride buses 1, 4, and 12 alerting them that for the next two weeks, these 3 buses will be running approximately 20-25 minutes late during afternoon drop off. This is due to the driver shortage but we believe the situation with afternoon drop off will be resolved in approximately two weeks.
We understand that this is a very frustrating situation for the students, parents, faculty, and staff but please know that we are constantly working to resolve the transportation problems that we are experiencing.
Very Truly Yours,
Dr. Joseph Campisi
