Transportation Update

Dear Parents/Guardians,

As a district, we are currently experience a challenge regarding bus transportation.  Unfortunately, we have had situations of some buses arriving too early or late for morning pick up, instances of routes that have not been followed correctly, and a chronic lateness of some buses for afternoon dismissal.

Hainesport currently provides transportation for the vast majority of the students.  This had required a total of thirteen (13) bus routes to be put into place.  Eleven (11) of the routes are done by Wills Bus Company and two (2) of the routes are done by Garden State Transportation.

Over the past school year there has been a statewide shortage of bus drivers which has continued into this school year.  This has caused double runs in the afternoon for certain buses. Our daily transportation is also impacted by the High School routes that each of the buses runs prior to beginning the Hainesport routes.  Any delay in these routes has a chain reaction effect.

We are in contact with our bus companies each day to try and bring resolution to the situation.  We understand that this situation is extremely frustrating, inconvenient, and upsetting to parents and students.  It is unfortunate and frustrating that bus issues have continued into this school year and dampened what has been an otherwise smooth and successful opening of the 2016-2017 school year.

We truly apologize for this situation and will continue our communication with the Bus Companies in hopes of a resolution as soon as possible.

Very Truly Yours,

Joseph Campisi, Ph.D.
